Functionality is his passion, the purpose his benchmark. Clothing, which has been proven on polar expeditions, in the army or in the beginnings of the sport, is now facing the tides of today in Nigel Carbourn’s smart remake. The olive Cameraman jacket was worn by Wilfrid Noyce on his numerous photo expeditions to Everest. This updated version of the original replica has a pointed collar instead of the original parka hood and large horn buttons instead of clip closures. The cotton on the sleeves, chest and shoulders is coated with refined oil. The process of oil coating was originally developed for the British fishermen who still appreciate this kind of fabric because of its wind and water repellent property when navigating on the harsh British waters. Each jacket obtains its own individual patina and color changes with the time. The rest of the jacket is made of warming Harris Tweed, which completes the functionality of the jacket with its weather-resistant fabric. For Nigel Cabourn Fashion is mainly a craft: persistent woven fabrics from the best manufacturers in the world, extraordinary fittings, usually exclusively produced only for his designs, and his irrepressible courage to work away from the hype.
